Microsoft’s DirectX is a well renowned Application Programming Interface that is used for integrating high graphics gaming output to be delivered to your pc. It is made to allow software programmers to get straight access to your computer’s hardware like video & sound output devices, gaming pad. Microsoft’s operating systems like Vista and XP come with DirectX by default.

Still there may be several upgrades available after you purchase your OS .There may be a need to change or completely un-install the present Direct X version if you are unable to operate with software applications using the older version. The only way to remove DirectX safely, is to use the inbuilt System Restore feature to roll back to the restore point where you don’t have this version of DirectX on your machine or you may opt for a reinstallation of you operating system. There are many different third party uninstallers available in the market but are not recommended by us almost of them are error prone and infects you pc with adware and spyware. So the best way to remove DirectX is to do it manually.

To do this follow the given steps:

Step 1: Open the Registry Editor by typing Regedit at Start > Run.

Step 2: After opening the registry Editor Navigate to the following registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DirectX

Step 3: Find and delete the DirectX folder. Exit the Registry Editor & restart your PC.

Step 4: After system startup your operating system will try to reinstall default version of DirectX that was originally shipped with the operating system. Or you may do it manually by going to Start > Run> type dxdiag.

This command will show the DirectX Diagnostic Tool utility with a lot of informative data about the DirectX installed on your pc along with the current version. These utilities enable you to keep your system free of unwanted files and considerably improve your computing experience.
