In order to upgrade BIOS version and drives of your system, first of all you need to determine the manufacturer and model of your Motherboard. In general you can get this information from the BIOS pack. But, if you don’t have it or lost it then you can find the manufacturer and model of your Motherboard with a free utility program BIOS Agent Plus. You can download this utility from here.

So, download and install BIOS Agent Plus then it will give you information about your BIOS like the following screenshot. Next follow the steps mentioned below.

1. After knowing your mother board brand and model, visit their website. You can simply search the company name on Google.

2. Now, almost all motherboard companies provide an option to download latest BIOS driver. You can search with your model number to get available option.

3. On the other hand, leading companies like ASUSTek provides a detection tool to identify the version of your BIOS and shows if any latest driver available for this. If you are unable to find such tool then you can easily detect your BIOS version as follows …

• Go to Start Menu -> Run and type “regedit” and hit enter
• Now on the Registry Editor window, browser -
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> HARDWARE >> DESCRIPTION >> SYSTEM and you will get the BIOS version like this.

4. So, after getting the proper version of your BIOS search on the manufacturer site if any upgraded driver available or not. If you find any then simply download it.

5. Now, many motherboard companies provide a free tool to flash/ erase and upgrade the BIOS driver from your desktop. Download such tool if available.

6. If you get an automated BIOS update tool as mentioned above, then simply choose the drive you have already downloaded and flash your BIOS. In case you are unable to find such tool then you check this link for few available tools.

Caution – This is just for information purpose and never try to flash to upgrade your BIOS if you are not 100% sure about this as it may crash your system.
