How to upgrade PS3 Hard Drive
Like other gaming consoles, you can also upgrade PS3 Hard Drive on your Sony Play Station Game Console easily. Before upgrading, make sure about the warranty terms as it may void warranty if remaining.
- The PS3 console comes with 2.5”. 9.5 mm, Laptop SATA hard disk. Be sure about the height of the new hard drive. Few larger hard drives come with 12.5mm height which will not fit to your PS3 console.
- You can choose any leading companies like Seagate, Western Digital, and Fujitsu while purchasing the new hard drive. In general there will no be any problem up to 500 GB size.
- Before removing the old hard drive, be sure to backup all your data. You can use the inbuilt backup system of your Play Station. It will backup all data in an external hard drive.
- Now you are ready to change the hard drive. Keep a mini flathead screwdriver, mini 2 & 4 head screw drives and small pliers within your reach.
- Now uncover the Play Station with flat headed screw driver.
- Pull out the lever and remove screws from the hard drive box.
- Now you can remove the old one and place the new hard drive.
Now, after covering up the Play Station when you start, it will give you a message that the newly installed drive is not formatted. Just format it and restore all backup data from the external drive. That’s all.
