Upgrade Video Card

You can follow simple steps mentioned below if you have the need to upgrade your video card with a least one.

  • First of all you need to find the latest available version of your Video Card on internet. Also before purchasing make sure the new video card is supported by your mother board.
  • When you got the proper video card, then uninstall the driver of your current video card and then switch of your machine. You can uninstall the old video driver from Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs.

  • If you are unable to find the video card driver on Add Remove Program section, then you can uninstall it from Device Manger option.

  • Shut down your system and detouch all external cables after uninstalling this driver.
  • After confirming the video card, open the cover of your CPU box. You can see the old video card like the image below. It’s attached on AGP slot near the PCI slots.

  • Remove the old video card gently using general screw driver. Few video cards comes with a lock and you need to open this lock before removing it.

  • Now simply insert the new video card and screw it properly.
  • Next, one very import point is to check the power requirement of your newly installed video card. Calculate and power with the old one and tally with your SMPS. If the power consumption of the new video is more then you need to change your SMPS also.
  • Now your are done; plug all external cables and switch on your system. Before covering the CPU box, make sure that the fan on the video card is working properly.
  • After your system is on, you will be prompt to install the driver for the newly installed video card. You can simply cancel it as most modern video card drivers come with stand alone installation. So, just insert the drive CD and install the driver normally.
