MP4 stands for Moving Picture Expert group 4. It includes all the features of earlier releases of MPEG files and also extra features to prove a very helpful and advance technology. MP4 is used among every average Internet user, even without them knowing it.

MP4 introduced fast, quick and high quality broadcast media for internet users, so it is one of the great success and is considered as best standard for every types of broadcast applications and streaming online. It’s designed so that every user can use it easily on websites and even on thousands of other applications. People have started to make their own MP4 format streaming videos.

The first version of MP4 was replaced by the name MPEG-4. The MP4 file format was generalized into the ISO Media File format which is a structure for time based media files.  It also runs one of the most famous formats that are 3GP, MPEG-4 audio or Video in MP4, as ISO Medial File format supports it. It also holds subtitles, still images, QuickTime MOV format and other kind of data too.

MP4 is very reliable application and it requires relatively low bandwidth so that everyone can take advantage of this format.  Now high speed internet have made it more accessible to MP4 format, people are enjoying sharing, making, watching short movies, professional clips, amateur clips  and various other clips. MP4 is now in iPods and PSPs so that’s why it got very popularity, it also stores DVD quality movies with very small size so it saves a lot of memory. This is not it, it also stores other extensions like MP4’s to m4a and now m4b is also being introduced in IPods. Mp4 and m4v have same audio and video concept.

Mp4 also contain codec’s as well. It contains audio, video, still images and all other types of data, making it compatible with every other technology. Even Divx media format, which is one of the famous formats, is supported by MP4. It works with lot of software’s such as Real player, QuickTime, PSP, IPod, Play station 3, Nokia Mobile Phones, Xbox 360 and many others. There are players out there which are specially designed for MP4 format, as MP4 is fulfilling almost all formats making it very suitable. People are using this format for downloading movies, short videos, funny videos and songs too. They transfer to their handy portable player as almost every player supports MP4 now.
