YouTube Video Not Available in Your Country? How to Watch Blocked Videos on YouTube
Are you a non US citizen who wants to view a youtube video but you are getting a message YouTube Video Not Available in Your Country ? this is something which people are seeing more and more as earlier only music companies were blocking some countries but now news channels and other youtube partners too have started blocking non US countries resulting more and more people seeing this message
“This video contains content from Fox, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.” (Instead of fox, it can be BBC, CBS, NBC, Sony, Universal, BMG)
So here are some tips to watch Blocked Videos on YouTube
1. You can watch the youtube video by changing its url and viewing it in full screen, for example instead of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxxxxxxx you can make it http://www.youtube.com/v/xxxxxxxxxxx and can watch the video (it seems the following technique is not working anymore but you can try)
2. You can start using Tor software - http://www.torproject.org/, using which you can change your IP to US based ips. Tor also has some really handy firefox addons like Torbutton and foxtor
3. If you have a good download speed, you can also download the video onto your computer and then watch it, a service like keepvid is perfect to download youtube videos.
4. There are lot of youtube proxies using which you can watch videos through the proxy and as most proxies are hosted in US, watching blocked videos shoudn’t be that difficult. You can find lot of youtube proxies on mwolk, unfortunately lot of proxy owners fill the categories wrongly but I know in the list, there are many who support youtube, please use search to find such sites.

I heard people end up getting dox’d by using tor. I think I’ll stick to hidemyass.com for bypassing blocks.

They blocking contents in Poland (too much frequently in my humble opinion) and yet they are wondering why there is so high level of piracy? Don’t they mistake the reason with the results? Are we really so worse than american or british users? That’s why my opinion about YouTube (and any other service, who divided users into better and worse just because of their nationality) is, to be polite, not very good.

indeed. I hate youtube blockers. what the hell is the idea?? is this the 18th century or what? anyhow, there are enough good ways to bypass all that shit. myself i use tubemirror.com they also let you download the video/audio tracks if you’re a registered user.

It took me 15 minutes to try various things and finaly i just setled on one specific youtube downloader with proxy abilities. Just found few servers (in my case from UK) and after few minutes video was in my HDD. It’s kind of inconvenient but its better than nothing.

Youtube is becoming a corporate whore, accepting demands from studios and governments. And the studios and publishers are becoming bigots. Sigh … I really thought for a while that bigotry has been abolished.

Youtube can pretty much screw up your day with these block and restrictions issues when trying to watch a video. As I’ve experienced that myself too, I’ve looked for bypasses and I’m glad I found Youtube Mirror which allows me to view, and even download, any video on Youtube whether blocked/restricted or not. Pretty nice find if you ask me, I suggest you try it out if you haven’t!
