How to Close Savings Account in HDFC Bank

If you have a Savings Bank Account is HDFC and looking to close it, HDFC can make this 30 minute process to a lengthy 3 week process. Though technically you just need to drop an Application Form to nearby HDFC drop box asking them to close your account.

You need to take that application form from any nearby HDFC bank branch, fill it with all your details like account details and drop into any HDFC drop box.

This is the standard HDFC procedure to close the account. I can understand daily not many people come to close accounts and hence they decision to handle the work by applications but honestly, when HDFC take 30 minutes to open new accounts, why can't they allow the same procedure to close accounts. The HDFC employee opening the account can also close the accounts afterall! I am pretty sure this is what happens in ICICI bank too.
