India need to Commercialized Healtcare

I was closely following US healthcare debate as it is interesting to see, how people are so desperate to have universal healtcare. The cost of medical treatment and surgeries are way too much in USA, there are huge waiting period of 12 months before you get your surgery and for people who have no insurance coverage they can not do anything. ofcourse to implement Universal healthcare, US government has to put hundreds of billions of dollars which will come from the tax payers pocket, so it is like socialist healthcare, something which India has right from independence.

But this is where I feels India has to go the other way, India need to commercialized its healthcare, let more corporate come in and let them make some profit, with health competition, they won’t raise the prices too much keeping the treatment within reach of booming Indian middle class. One more thing which I feels can take off is medical tourism (exohealth seems to be one of the biggest medical facilitator in India with 6 branches).

Indian Railways Jai Ho !!!

Indian Railways are one of the biggest employers in the world with around 2 million people working for them! Each day millions of people travel by Indian railways and I remember when I was 7-8 years old, it was great fun to travel by train, All most all of my journeys were in sleeper class (though my last few journeys are in AC II class :) ). If you want to know more about History of Indian Railway you can check the link or wiki link, I am sure there are more resources on the web too.

IR has certainly come a long way from manual ticketing to everything getting computerized and now online so you can get e tickets and infact its a great way to travel, just use your credit card, get the printouts and show it at the time of inspection. What this whole process of online Reservation has done is it has cut down on manual hours and people don’t have to spend hours standing in lines. I know the lines are still there but at least people have option now

Rakhi ka Swayamvar

So yesterday I catch an episode of much talked and hyped rakhi ka swayamvar show, I am not sure what I was thinking as I don’t watch hindi television or any reality show and stick to finance news and sports occasionally but anyway, I watched it for 10 minutes and then gave it away. I just can’t watch it :D

The show is certainly created to appeal a certain segment of crowd and I don’t belong to it and I am worried that with so much masala content being shown on TV, and with so many infotainment masala news channels, what is happening to Indian news media ? it is understandable that they are looking to increase the presence by spreading horizontally to other domain rather then sticking to news (not to mention, creating news in studio is alot cheaper then going all over india to find news) but really if these news and entertainment channels are thinking that this is the long term solution then they are wrong, very quickly this will fade out, and probably rakhi sawant and NDTV imagine are just striking when the iron is hot.
