I had visited Apollo last month for some medical treatment (it is long story, but lets say, I have some health issues) and I was really surprised to see number of foreign patients there. I have to say, Apollo has certainly promoted it well to foreign tourist and kudos to them for corporatizing the indian healthcare market, now I can see more and more hospitals going public to raise funds to build better infrastructure.

Trains from Hyderabad

Hyderabad city has 3 railway stations namely, Hyderabad Deccan railway station, Kachiguda railway station and Secunderabad railway station. Hyderabad Deccan railway station, also called Nampally railway station, comes under the Secunderabad division of South Central railways. It is located in the center of the city and sends and receives trains from Hyderabad to all major cities of India. From this station you can easily obtain trains from Hyderabad to Pune and trains from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad.

Secunderabad railway station is basically an intercity railway station that is also the busiest station of South Central zone of the Indian Railways. Beside this, it is also well connected with all the major railway stations of India. From this station you can get trains from Hyderabad to Mumbai and trains from Hyderabad to Kolkata.

Trains from Delhi to other Big Cities of India

In case you are in delhi, and wants to know the major trains to other big cities without using IRCTC website, Delhi has 4 railways stations namely Delhi railway station, New Delhi railway station, Hazart Nizamuddin railway station and Sarai Rohilla railway station.

From the Delhi junction railway station trains from Delhi go in three different directions; one is towards east that is Uttar Pradesh side, the second is towards west that is Rohtak side, and the third is towards north that is Haryana side. Also called old Delhi railway station, this station was build by British India and it complements New Delhi railway station. From old Delhi railway station you can easily find trains from Delhi to Lucknow and trains from Delhi to Kanpur.

More on Indian Railways

From 1853 to 2009, the Indian Railways has certainly come a long way. The 63,140 Kms of rail network is the 5th largest in the world, and not just covers 28 states and 3 union territories, but also stretches up to Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. Each year, the railways transport 7 billion passengers and 350 million tones of freight. This statistic clearly indicates the enormity, expansiveness and extensiveness of railway system in India.

With time, the Indian Railways has also undergone change. Steam locomotives have been replaced by diesel and electric locomotives; broad gauge is taking the place of the original narrow and metre gauge. Manual ticketing has been replaced by electronic ticketing system. Apart from general, sleeper and first classes, AC two tier, AC three tier and AC Chair Car have been introduced to make the journey more comfortable and enjoyable. Several super fast trains as Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express have been introduced to save the precious time of the passengers. In all long-distance trains pantry car is attached for the benefit of the passengers.
