File your Income Tax Return Online

The last date for filing Income Tax returns is 31st July 2009 this year and if you still haven’t given too much thought about your income tax returns, may be this is the good time to start doing it, since there is no point in filing it too late.

Now india does have a sizeable population working in metros in busy schedules with no time to go to Chartered Accountants and explain them the whole thing as it can easily take half of their day. So for such people, there are online websites and services in India using which you can submit online taxes return paying small fees. You can instantly pay your return by credit card and can also get income tax advices from them.

1. TaxSmile - taxsmile has a fees of Rs 300 to Rs 500 which you can pay by DD/cheque or through credit card or even netbanking through ICICI or HDFC. They offer various services like help for professionals and company and also offers applying for PAN Card and digital Signature.

2. Taxshax - Taxshax has fees of 200 to 500 which you can pay by Credit card or demand draft/cheque. They offer a free trial so you can look at their service. They unfortunately don’t offer live support so you can talk and ask questions.

3. eLagaan - elagaan is another website which helps you in filing IT returns online and looking at the site right now, it looks they are offering this service for free! So you can certainly give them a try.

4. MyITReturn - MyITReturn offers filing IT return for individuals and charges Rs 200 for it. They don’t offer separate packages like others do so they are not useful for corporates.

Most of these websites offer free trial or gives enough information to give them a try. A CA or consultant in cities like delhi, mumbai, bangalore can easily charge you Rs 1500 to Rs 2500 which you can do online just by paying Rs 200 and in less then 30 minutes.

    Thanks for the list. I used the site http://elagaan.com and it was very smooth. I recommend them over the others (I spent hours comparing), can’t help my money saving habits :-)

    Well, when are you filing, you also expect good customer service. And this is where these guys stand apart. Not only they are prompt in replying to your questions, they also ensure that the response they give does resolve the issue.

    In the past, I have used couple of site for e-filing. No doubt, these site attract lot of crowd. But then your voice gets lost in this crowd. Result: Delay in response to your queries and sometimes no response at all.

    So, in my opinion, at times its best to go where you are treated well and not where the whole crowd is upto.
