If you are India citizen living in India or outside and have questions about Indian passport, here is a nice Passport FAQ for you

1. Duplicate Indian Passport Issue - if you lost your passport, you should immediately contact local police station as well as regional passport office to inform them. Your passport will get nulled and you will get a new passport.

2. Indian Passport Renewal - Passports are issued for period of 10 years and after that you need to renew it, here is the procedure of how to renew your passport.

3. Passport Processing time - If you have applied for passport and need ur urgently as you are leaving to USA for higher studies and wondering when will your passport be delivered to you, the article should help you to give some idea. I had got my passport in about from the date of application submission.

4. What to do when passport is stolen ? - this has to be the worst thing that can happen to you while traveling. There are tons of stories when people go to Europe or to east asia and loses their Indian passport which spoils the whole trip! anyway if you lose your passport or it gets stolen, immediately contact your tour adviser and Indian embassy and they will help you.

    My passport shall be expired by mid Nov 2011. How many months before this date of this expire , I apply for renewal so that I can go to London to stay for six months with my son.I am likely to shift my rented accomodation in May 2011 in Mumbai

    sir iam residing in new delhi applying for a new passport . iam a govt servant (working in PSU) in new delhi since 4 years .
    at column no 5. permanent home address is to be filled , at that column i have filled my home town uttrakhand address but i have no proof of there i.e. no domicile certificate , but have address proof of residing in delhi (as correspondence addresses) i.e. “sbi passbook” .i also have idenitity certificate (annexure ‘B’) issued my psu deptt. & standard affidivat( ‘annexure I’). i have my 10th certificate as a date of proof. is it is compularsarly to attach a permanent address proof regarding to col. 5 of indian passsport form. plz help

    I have been issued a fresh passport No.J 4580691.Consequently,my old passport
    No.B 5571188 is cancelled and returnred to me.

    My old-cancelled passport has sticker Visa granted by USA and Canada which are still valid.

    While my new passport mentions the No.of the old one,it is silent about the valid visa stickers
    contained in the cancelled passport.

    Kindly guide me whether Emmigration authorities will accept the new passport
    without any mention of the valid visa already pasted in the Cancelled Passport.
