IRCTC site not working
In the Morning when I tried to open IRCTC site it was not working. This is not the first time this has happened and certainly won’t be the last time as I think 25% of the time, your ticket booking never gets completed.
After spending 5-10 minutes selecting all the options, the moment I click on payment option, I get logout of the site saying some unexpected error happened and I have to start everything all over again. What I never understood is, why can’t they store sessions for people to I again don’t have to start everything.
I remember, when I was going to Delhi, there were 4 AC II tier tickets were available, my attempt to book a ticket failed and when I was finally able to book a ticket after 20 minutes, it was waiting 2! and knowing that the waiting list of second class AC never clears, I had to go in sleeper class of some different train carrying my costly laptop.
What to do if IRCTC site is not working ?
This is what I do and will suggest others to do too in case IRCTC site is not working. In India, nowdays every nook and corner has an online ticket booking counter/shop, most of them register through IRCTC only but many others have their own agent gateways, so always have a phone number of these agents and in urgency, ask them to book a ticket for you. If you are friend with them, they will book it without any advance money or you can take your bike or can walk to them.
I always keep 3-4 train ticket booking agents phone number in my phone’s contact list and will advice all of you guys to do the same too.

I have an IRCTC account which is locked second time.
When i tried to reset the password through forget password link, it asks User id, question and Answer. I provided all the details and it throws an error “Answer is Incorrect”. This happend second time and both the times i tried to login through the actual password.
I waited for a week and there was no response from IRCTC customer care. I called them up on 24 Hrs. Customer Support at 011-23340000 and it took about 12 calls to make them understand about the issue. When ever i called up the customer support the person attnding the call will redirect me to someone else after listening to my detail and again i need to explain whole story, inshort that was waste of time and money.
I sent an email at care@irctc.co.in also submit at http://www.consumercourt.in/railways/14030-irctc-login.html and got an automated email as Ticket Confirmation for the request.
IRCTC should hire service and satisfaction oriented support executives so that it a common man has no pain of wasting time and money.
Can someone please help me.

Its been in the papers..the site has been hacked..no payment gateway is working.however your are able to retrive your booked tickets..dont know if it possible with the cancellation and modification part of the already booked tickets
