Top NIT of India
So lot of people were asking me what are the TOP NIT engineering colleges of India so I thought of making a list of all top nits. This list ofcourse is mine and based on my experience of being an engineer and interaction with other engineering students so some of you may not agree to it still if you don’t agree, feel free to comment below to tell me what you don’t like and which NITs should be where.
I am dividing these National Institute of technologies colleges into blocks where the top blocks are considered to be best and so on.
VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) and Manipal Engineering College Cutoff in AIEEE 2009
Vellore Institute of Technology conducts its own exam VITEE though they do take students from AIEEE as well as management quota too. I honestly don’t know how good the college is as I have seen mixed review of VIT and Manipal where people says that they are not that good and just spend lot of money on building their reputation. VIT’s wiki page is a good example of it (if you read the talk page)
Anyway here are the respective cutoffs for both colleges -

Sensex Jumps by 2000 Points in response to UPA win - Market Closed for rest of the Day
Indian stock market today saw a historic day with gain of over 2100 points in matter of hours and eventually trading had to stopped for the rest of the day. This 2100 points rise is the highest even in indian stock market history thanks the UPA government getting clear majority in recent lok sabha polls.
This huge thumbs up for government also implies how unwanted left was in business circuits. I had always felt that left parties are not good for the nation specially if they are running the nation as they work very passively and have problem with pretty much everything due to their ideology. Anyway the chances are, with BJP losing and left doing very badly, its the end of regional parties and communal politics in India which is a great sign for the nation. If India need to move with rapid pace, we need stable government for 5 years runned by one party only with no involvement of left parties, and this is what market wanted and this is what they got. I am expecting it to go even higher before bears start shorting it.
Free Web Hosting India
I was just searching for some free web hosting offered by Indian web hosts which are not renowned for great hosting offers as I wanted to make a post to list down all such hosts, unfortunately as expected I didn’t found any host which was offering free hosting. Now I know expecting free hosting in today’s world is crazy but many hosts do this and in return they show their ads.
Hosting is anyway dirt cheap with people offering like $10/year hosting offers so the logic behind free hosting is that why not just give it for free and let the person show host ads ? or you can run a web forum where you can ask the person to make say 50 posts a month and you can put ads on that forum which will be win-win situation for everyone.
Congress lead UPA gets Majority in Lok Sabha Election 2009
So the elections results are out and Congress lead UPA has got thumping victory with about 260 seats out of 543 which leaves them only 12 seats for majority which they should be able to get it without any trouble. This means they don’t have to take support from Left Parties, Mayawati, Laloo yadav and Paswan (who themselves have lost their seats) which probably is a great news because I have always felt indian partiliament is becoming a joke with so many regional parties with 4-5 seats playing such major role in national assembly and anyone wwith 4% seats in partiment starts dreaming about becoming next Prime Minister
With this mandate, its clear that people were happy with what UPA government did for the last 5 years and the voted for stability as I can see the antics of left didn’t impressed people too much as well their stand on Nuclear deal with USA.

Elections 2009 Results will be out Today
So Indian elections results will be out today and as per exit polls, it looks unlikely that any of UPA or NDA will be getting majority and it will be fragmented parliament. Though it may looks like unless NDA gets 230+ seats on its own, they won’t be able to make government where as for UPA if they can get around 215+ seats, they should be able to get enough support to make their government.
