How to save Taxes in India
So we are in the summer of April and people have started filing their tax returns (I am also in the process of doing it), now as any common Indian, I too had spent considerable time talking to my CA (chartered accountant) on how I can save taxes on my earnings. So on the basis of those conversation and my investments, here are some suggestions on how to save taxes in India
1. Invest 1 Lakh in LIC so you can get rebate under IT act 80C. This I feels is must for everyone as getting Insurance is very important, specially if you have a family and you are the sole bread earner, even if you are not, I still feels you should take. If not LIC, you can go for any other plans too, many private companies and even banks are offering such plans, but always make sure you understand the terms and conditions as many such policies has locking period too
Mutual Funds vs Fixed Deposit in India
I have seen lot of people including myself asking this question that in India, which is better, Mutual Funds or Fixed Deposit. Lets say for one year period, you get 7.5% interest rate on 1 lakh rupees than is it good or should you take more risk and invest in mutual funds ?
I have invested money in both in the past and currently have 3 mutual funds of ICICI, HDFC and SBI as well have money in fixed deposit too in HDFC and ICICI banks, so from my experience this is what I can suggest -
India need to Commercialized Healtcare
I was closely following US healthcare debate as it is interesting to see, how people are so desperate to have universal healtcare. The cost of medical treatment and surgeries are way too much in USA, there are huge waiting period of 12 months before you get your surgery and for people who have no insurance coverage they can not do anything. ofcourse to implement Universal healthcare, US government has to put hundreds of billions of dollars which will come from the tax payers pocket, so it is like socialist healthcare, something which India has right from independence.
But this is where I feels India has to go the other way, India need to commercialized its healthcare, let more corporate come in and let them make some profit, with health competition, they won’t raise the prices too much keeping the treatment within reach of booming Indian middle class. One more thing which I feels can take off is medical tourism (exohealth seems to be one of the biggest medical facilitator in India with 6 branches).
Airtel Mobile Network Down All over India
It seems Airtel network is down all over India and airtel call to any network, landline or mobile are either not getting completed or getting terminated, this is happening since 30th december and today is 4th of January so almost 5 days now. Hopefully it gets fixed by tomorrow

ICICI bank has finally changed its online netbanking interface from the earlier really ugly, broken and not o user friendly interface to somewhat less ugly interface.
