Few days back, I had made a post on Tatkal ticket booking and how it works, now here is another post on how inefficient the system is.

I am trying to reserve a Tatkal ticket for the last 4 days, each day I am trying to book the ticket through IRCTC website and the site doesn’t work from 8 am till 10 am. It is impossible to book a tatkal ticket as there are only 6 available per day for the train I am trying and it looks like they are getting taken in first 2 minutes itself.

Now I know there are lot of people in India and specially in summer it becomes impossible to get a ticket but really railways should try to do something about it as getting tatkal tickets has become a farce and gives the agents and railways employees to play with the system as I know the tickets gets blocked immediately at 8 am when the booking starts and railway ticket employees book the ticket for agents only.

The problem is, not all stations and trains have tatkal quota which makes it impossible to reserve a ticket in summer when all the trains are getting full before 25 days specially the AC coaches. I wonders why don’t railway runs special summer trains from busy stations to reduce the load!
